P.52 photo challenge: week 9.

A 'great leap'. this last week's challenge. oh, trouble with this one too. here goes.

leap = jump.

jump = cow jumping over the moon.

and in case the image doesn't convey, gr8 leap in writing.

sort of clever? good use of household items?

This is two weeks in a row utilizing buddy's toys! Might need to get out of the house with my camera!

Enjoy.

I never finish anythi...

I came across a new blog today - "Becoming a Finisher." I just love the name of the blog, the term and the goal!

I myself would like to become a "finisher", having suffered from "Lack of Finishing" syndrome from time to time. Let's see, I've started (key word being started):

  • scrapbook while pregnant - stopped after five months
  • keeping a baby book - stopped keeping that after a few months
  • an ongoing "baby memory" file system - kept it diligently for three months
  • photo books for family members - a few pages designed

I've come across this pin on pinterest at least ten different times, but i have never pinned it, even though I think it's kinda funny.

Pinning it feels like I am saying that this is me, identifying myself
as a non-finisher.  And I don't want to be labeled as such.

I want to be a finisher!

In fact, two of my goals this year are in line with this 'finisher' business:

1. To keep this blog
(shhhh - I must admit I have attempted other blogs in the past)

2. To participate in the entire p.52 photo challenge
(shhh - struggling to find a photo for last week's subject)

Now - let me go and finish up some work! :)

Yes, restaurants will give birthday desserts to 18 month olds.

Buddy's 18 month birthday is tomorrow. I can't believe it! It came so fast!

So today, my parents, buddy and I went to lunch. during lunch, I somewhat jokingly suggested we let them know it's buddy's birthday and see if they'd bring a birthday dessert.

So, we told our waitress we were celebrating a birthday and let her know it was for the baby.         Um, do you bring desserts for18 month old birthdays? we asked.  Sure, replied our lovely waitress.

So, a birthday sundae was brought out for buddy to enjoy. Complete with candle and all. He was so excited.  And he definitely enjoyed that sundae. See photos below.

So, two things - one, happy 18 month birthday to my precious, happy, sweet little boy. and two,
whether you're 18 months or 18 years, everyone loves a restaurant birthday celebratory treat!

Throw the ball. Not the remote.

The little buddy is in full throwing mode. He's been throwing his food when he's done for a while already. But now we're expanding to, well - everything.

pile of items thrown by the buddy last night

blocks.

books.

stuffed animals.

trucks.

remote controls.

pianos (toy, of course)

sippy cups.

shoes.

I've been finding myself pretty much saying (over and over. and over again);
"Buddy, we don't throw things. no, please don't throw the food. let's put it on the plate and say all done!" or, "no buddy, let's not throw our blocks. let's put them down gently, like this. nice blocks. nice blocks."
I lamented to my mom that this hasn't been working, she made an excellent observation.
"It's probably confusing to him. you're teaching him how to throw a ball, but then he shouldn't throw anything else. he probably thinks he should throw everything".
Good point.  It must be confusing for him.

So, any advice on teaching no throwing without sounding like a broken record? (keep in mind, said record might be broken from child throwing it!)
